My best impression of a hunter gatherer
My background, other than a dieter, is as a marine biologist. For the last ten years I have trained as a marine biologist and finally graduated last year with a PhD. I then went and did a short stint as a post doctoral fellow at the University of Rhode Island in the USA. The research I undertake is feeding physiology/behaviour/ecology/evolution of fish. It was this reason that the paleo diet really appealed to me. Im so used to looking at the evolutionary basis for why fish feed the way they do, and the paleo diet really applied this reasoning to humans, and so I could back it wholeheartedly. Essentially fish are not so different than us, if you put them on an artificial diet they get sick and fat. Millions of dollars have been spent trying to do this and it just never works as well as if you have fish feeding on what they evolved to eat.
I was born and raised in New Zealand. Its a beautiful country with a very marine outdoorsy lifestyle. My whole life was based around a beach. The reason we are such sea folk is because although New Zealand is actually the fifth largest country in the world only 5% of this is land mass. This is due to us having such a huge continental shelf and lots of offshore islands. Having a population of only four million people means there is never a beach far away that has no one around. We also have lots more to offer for an active outdoors lifestyle. We have lots of rainforests, rivers, volcanoes and mountains just dying to be played on like a hunter gatherer. The pics below are what I took with my camera and are both within the major city Auckland which has a population of 1.5 million. One other advantage is we only have grass fed beef and lamb and don’t do the grain fed thing. Thus I never have to worry about if my meat is grass fed as it always is. Yes I am proud of my little country!!!

A busy day at the beach - I wish the people would just go away.

A view of a rainforest

Auckland City - pic obviously not mine
If you have any other questions you want to know please ask and I will put it up.
